Hi everyone,
I have a probability exam soon and i am stuck on one of the preperatory exercises: The probability that Danny will learn for the statistics exam and not pass it is 0.1. The probability that Danny will pass the statistics exam given that he didn't learn for it is 0.2. The probability that Danny will learn for the statistics exam is 0.4. What is the probability that Danny will pass the statistics exam?
Your help with be much appreciated also if you could provide a detailed answer would be nice! Thanks a lot!
@alli4ka,
The probability that he will pass is the probability that he will study times the probability that he will pass given that he studied plus the probability that he did not study times the probability that he will pass given that he did not study.
P = .4 * .9 + .6 * .2 = .48 or 48%
