Is Anyone Besides me Thinking that Trading in Mubarak for Morsi is Dumb?

Mubarak was corrupt and at the end incompetent, but he cared about what was best for Egypt more that anything else. Morsi cares most about making Egyptians bow to Islamist bosses.

@hawkeye10,
1) I disagree that Mubarak cared about what was best for Egypt.

2) We didn't have a choice, so we didn't do the trade.

3) If you mean the Egyptians were dumb, well, they got what they asked for.

look forward to it.....the Egyptians have never been particularly pious, so an Islamic version of the Mubarak dictatorship should not be in their interests.

@hawkeye10,
Still, I recently saw they approved the new constitution by something like 62%. That's persuasive if it were an honest election, and I haven't heard otherwise.

a honest constitution is written by the best minds of the collective, not as it was in this case by only those who have passed a ideological litmus test. this constitution is illegitimate based upon the corruption in its making, a vote does not bleach it.

@hawkeye10,
OK, back now. Mubarak stood for a lack of democracy. Morsi is a visible signal to the Egyptian people they have some say in the future of their country. Everyone knows that Morsi was elected because there wasn't a viable candidate representing the more secular parts of Egyptian society (and the ones that bore the brunt of the Arab Spring).

Morsi's mistakes so far have been in thinking he has the same power Mubarak had. Not surprising when you consider how long Egypt spent under Mubarak. At least he backed down on the special powers. If Morsi is to survive he'll have to learn to more finally balance the aspirations of all Egyptians. Such is democracy. - the next election will be interesting.
