http://www.upi.com/Health_News/2012/11/03/Meningitis-patients-struck-by-2nd-illness/UPI-19331351959723/

On top of the wildly troubling matter of pharmaceuticals unwisely produced causing meningitis, somehow being unregulated/unmonitored, sometimes fatal, now some of those affected by those steroids are coming back with epidural abcesses.

The pain must be excruciating.

Do you think this or similar situations calls for more government regulation?

@ossobuco,
It needs more oversight than it is getting, for certain. I have always been amazed that the people entrusted with our health and health products so often don't do cleanliness. People, particularly elder ones, stay constantly infected and on antibiotics, until they get away from the hospital.

There's cleanliness and cleanliness. Bacteria like clostridium difficile are difficult (heh) to deal with in a large hospital but I suppose also in small nursing homes.

In my beginning bacti major days we were shown what works if we swabbed our own inner elbows. Takes powerful stuff to kill the lot of them. And half measures can kick up resistance over time, or so I surmise.

Re regulation, people who know me by posts or in person know I want this kind of product to be scrutinized.

A lot of americans are anti regulation, to some extent. So.. I'm wondering about the run of opinions.
