How often does bullying happen in the nursing profession?

Has anyone encountered bullies as a nurse professional? How did one able to handle this kind of situation?

Gossip and rumors are prevalent in this field, and it's not uncommon to use such info to put down others.
Have a thick skin, don't hold grudges, don't talk too much about your personal matters (as these info can be used against you), and contact nurse administrator/ manager if it's bothering you and effecting your work.
I personally have not encountered bullies in my field of work in the hospital, yet.

With anyone experiencing workplace bullying, it's always a good idea to join a trade union.

I'm not a nurse, but I've seen patients bully the nurses. Sick patients can often act like "mad" dogs.
