@caseybennett1,
nearby nat history museums all have several bookshelves with many books of fossil study just meant for kids.
The life of Roy Chapman Andrews was a book I read very early . If you can find it the kids will be told a story of a life on which the tales of Indiana Jones were based (Andrews was a pleontlogist though)
There are several books from the Museum of the Rockies that tell stories by and of paleontology in the field
Several of the various state Geological Surveys (NY, Pa, W Va, Ga, In, Mo,Ma, Me Mon ,Ca, Alaska) All these have kid versions of fossil stories of that prticulr state. Those can usually be gotten for very little cost or free from the director of the State Geological Survey (if yer intereseted I can find a link to state pubs for kids.
