I am a senior nursing student and one of the areas of nursing that I have become more and more interested in pursuing has become nursing inormatics. As part of a project that I am working on this semester, I am trying to get information about nursing informatics first hand from those in the field.
I would be very appreciative if any nursing or health informatics specialists could share some of their personal insights or perspectives in regards to the following questions and topics. I think that a career in nursing informatics is where I am headed and I think that hearing from those in the field will help me to begin towards this goal.
Thanks in advance for taking the time to share your knowledge.
•What are some important personal characteristics needed for success in nursing informatics?
•What type of experience with information technology did you have before deciding to pursue nursing informatics specifically? How did this help?
•In order to specialize in nursing informatics, what recommendations in regards to education or work experiences would you recommend for somebody at my level education and experience?
•What professional organizations are you a member of? What types of activities does this organization offer?
•Anything else that might be useful for me to know?
