Retrieving Image count from another page of my website with javascript with pop up (alert) function

I would like to be able to retrieve how many plus.png images i have on my link /friends&foes and show the count on each page like so "You have (x) friend request" and if +1 pop up alerts the user giving two options close popup or go to the link to accept. I want to use javascript for this. Any way possible?
