Use of undefined functions in javascript

I am wondering what effect calling an undefined function has.
The webpage is
http://www.allisons.org/ll/Logic/Propositional/Wff/
The function called is nonterminal();
So far, I suspect it is a sophisticated technique to manipulate the stack.

Welcome to A2K by the way, but I haven't heard of calling an undeclared function being a useful hack.
