Now that it is the way it is supposed to be (on for guests, off by default for members with the option to turn on), the posts look funny (as they always do, when asterisks go on and off, people are more foul mouthed when they know they are being censored, "hold me back, hold me back!").
Now the censor has the right nuance, opt-in, for those who want it. And most people won't turn it on and cuss at the filter because it's not the default.
Protip: anyone following along should realize that
this is why the badword filter should be opt-in for your members if you are designing a community. It creates a Streisand Effect when on by default.
