Just looking quickly at this, because it's bedtime here, I think because of the bond between the UK and the USA and our status as allies our mass media have been constrained in their approach to matters concerning the USA.
That does not mean to say however that we are ignorant about the behaviour of the USA in interfering with/subverting the democratic process in South America, for example. And John Pilger is British, after all.
Our government's approach has been supine and largely supportive of American overt and covert foreign policy. Extraordinary rendition of foreign suspects has been lately carried out via airports in Britain, in contravention of natural justice and international law, with our collusion.
Torture of suspects at Guantanamo and elsewhere has been carried out in the presence of MI5 (British Secret Service) officers.
@djjd62,
How's your sliver, dj? Does it hurt much?
