How do I keep the flowers fresh all week?

Whenever I purchased flower it will dry after sometime, can you help me that how to keep flowers fresh all the week?

Place a copper coin in the vase, and keep topping up the water as necessary.

And/or add an aspirin tablet (after changing water). I'd give a link but the one I read sent me two pop ups. There are plenty of websites that mention aspirin though, and at least one that says both aspirin and a copper coin.

Heh, I killed snails with dilute ammonia, evil queen that I am. (No snails on the scene here in Abq yet.)
