Curious if anyone's name has ever showed up on this list? My has once before (I called and it wasn't me). And now my maiden name has shown up again. I did a quick search and in my state it appears to be about 20 or people in the state (on people search) with my maiden name. I did not show up with my maiden name on people search.

My brother and dad have several times, but they both have very common names. My maiden last name is more common than my married so I could see, but my first name (although by any means not uncommon - isn't a very common name).

Should I call? Has anyone gotten anything before?

@Linkat,
I did. It turned out that I had an old bank account (typical) from years ago that had a small amount of money still in it. The banks don't make a big effort to notify and I had moved several times in between.

@Linkat,
Something like that. It was after all my property - not so much like winning a lottery. As I believe it's a third party notifing you, I'll bet they get a healthy chunk of that moolah!

They will want more ID than just your name: Social Security number, etc.

So be prepared to hand that info over to claim your prize.

@Ragman,
So, Ragman, how do I go about applying for the Ragman $1,000,000 grant?

As for the original question? As an undiagnosed ADD sufferer, when I do stumble onto one of these lists in the newspaper (rare these days as I rarely get a hardcopy newspaper other then the free Sunday Daily News after grocery shopping), I take a 1/2 second look at this list and blanche then move onto the comic pages.

@PUNKEY,
I looked it up online. My name showed in the paper, but they also had an online website to check. On the online website you input your first and last name - what comes up is similar verisions of your name (ie shorten and full first name- Sue vs Susan) and then a town/city name. There is also a third line where it notes whether it is less than $100 or not.

So I doubt it is mine as they list the name and then the town/city. There was about a half dozen with a version of my name and none were in a town I have ever lived in. Also, there was only one that was greater than $100 so I'd assume most of these are small amounts that some one just forget about.

so no I did not find some big winnings. I do remember a family member finding something once. It was actually a house left to them or as a result of being next in line sort of thing. The unfortunate part was there were several other family members involved so after all the taxes, fees, etc., it ended up being small dollars.
