Why Is The World's Largest Foundation Buying Fake Poop?
Last week, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation announced that it's purchasing 50 pounds of fake poop.
A practical joke? No, not in the least.
Nor is this synthetic poop a plastic replica of the real thing; it's an organic version made from soybeans. The Gates Foundation will use it to test high-tech commodes at their Reinvent the Toilet Fair next week.
Since it's deliberately manufactured to avoid the dangers and flaws of real fecal matter, I'm assuming they formulated the soybean compound in a way to avoid any nasty lingering odors.

@tsarstepan,
I want to ask this important question:
How big of an operation is this that they need to fix the below with duct tape?

I usually hate Bill Gates because of what he thinks/does/says about education in America but then something comes along to remind me about all the things he does right about health and sanitation for other countries not as fortunate as America and I feel kind of bad for hating him so much.

@tsarstepan,
Thank you for that information, tsar.
Good to know.
I'm certain it will come in very useful sometime down the track!

Toilet of the future? Runs on sun. Wins prize. Toilet of the future wins $100,000 from Gates Foundation for solar-powered unit that recycles water and turns waste into energy. Foundation will spend $3.4 million on its 'toilet of the future' initiative.
