I read an article the other day about how malls are really struggling and that they are all moving more to services than goods. Expect to see a lot more dentists, etc. popping up.

This isn't the article I read, but it's close: http://theweek.com/article/index/94691/the-vanishing-shopping-mall

@ehBeth,
Yep... the health care and dental services are on the second floor of the mall near me, so it's not like it's beside Reitman's or whatever. There are also eyeglass outfits (like Pearl Vision) on the main level beside a travel agency.

Come to think of it, there's a new dental practice on the main level now, too.

And Linkat, they are small private offices featuring several dentists. It's not like a Walmart Smile

I prefer to go to the dentist school and let the students practice on me.

it's free, and I still got most of my teef...

Actually, this is a great way to get excellent care while saving some money. The students are all supervised by faculty advisers.

Just like a teaching hospital gives the best care.

@ehBeth,
Yeah - there are many that are also in home like settings as well - less so in malls although these are becoming more and more popular.

What I've found is you have large dentist offices that are in malls or have their own building, you have them in a medical building where there tends to be a variety of dentists and specialists and then the ones is separate almost like converted homes.

@boomerang,
yeah we have a smaller local mall - for the most part it does well - I think they try to have lots of stuff going around for the kids and it is in a family town.

They have tried to get other stuff in - like the dentist and now a tatoo shop - so they are trying for other businesses. They also do alot of temp type shops to at least use the space.

@Mame,
the one at our local mall is aspen so it is more a chain and there are a whole slew of different dentists in there - I don't know if I've seen one with (a mall that is) with like a small local practice - they have all been chains.

I can see the benefit though of the convience of having it in a mall.
