@farmerman,
I'm talking from when I was a lab tech in immunology, early days. I got to start a lab for tests up to that time, ' 65. I was it. I was the one who moved refrigerators. Boss from prestigious place visited once in a while. I'm no post doc person (a woman, you know, back then). Still, I had the coffeepot going and was accepted by my quesions. Besides flirting, we talked. Later worked in research lab, and after that for a new clinical lab. Senior, but that wasn't how we worked at the start. See next paragraph.
I have not surety now about genetic markers re a batch of those, but I checked fast about autoimmunity. I left for green pastures (design thereof) in 1980 after working at a lab that grew to worldwide. Offered manager status very early in the company, but got out of there. I'm no born manager and the boss was problematic to others. I did not have the acumen to joust with him.
I'd be better financially off if I stayed, but insane (or more insane).
