Hospitals now require BSN and 12 months acute care experience,I have worked with a Master's dgree nurse who tried to put mylanta through a central line and almost kill myGive nurse the acute care patient,experienced diploma nurse to the rescue!!!!I was livid!!!!I am for bettering youe education,your choice,but experience counts to save lives and prevent lawsuits.A degree does not make a nurse.
@best nurse800,
I certainly agree. Still, all else being equal, an RN with or without BSN increases the likelyhood of better care. There are numerous exceptions, but that's the way to bet.
Actually, I'm expecting the whole system to collapse of its own weight. In some institutions the nurses spend so much time working with medications and reporting requirements they have little time for actual patient care.
