Should women be allowed to go topless in public? Not just the rare topless beach?
Apparently, it's legal for women to walk around NYC to walk around topless though highly discouraged:
Quote:
The state's highest court established long ago that women have the same right as men to appear topless in public. Absent a link to some commercial enterprise or promotion, the woman's lack of certain attire in this instance does not appear to be a police matter.
Should their be an effort to end this double standard? If a man was walking around sans shirt (sure it would be frowned upon especially if he had a beer belly) but the police wouldn't harass said male for a lack of shirt based attire.
Weird. I've seen butt ass naked dudes walking the sidewalk in the Castro several times since I've lived here. I'm not sure of the legality, but I've never seen cops respond. I just feel compelled to tip them.

@tsarstepan,
Of course.
It's legal in Ontario as well. Doesn't come into play too often.

In the best of all possible worlds, of course. As you know, this ain't the best of all possible worlds. I think any woman would be best advised to choose her circumstances very carefully.

@tsarstepan,
Women, empower yourselves by throwing the bondage of oppressive societal conventions, by turning men on.
