I see a shirt for 97 pounds and I have no money, so borrow 50 from mum and 50 from dad, I have 3 pounds change so give mum and dad a pound each and keep a pound for myself. So now owe both parents 49 pounds each which makes 98 pounds where has the extra pound gone?

@parados,
A 97 pound shirt should have lots of pockets.

@Joan Horsfield,
This is a classic riddle that has been done in many forms. It attempts to confuse you by giving you too much information than adding up numbers while pretending they are the total.

You borrowed 98 pounds from mum and dad. (100 pounds minus the 2 you paid back) Paid 97 pounds for the shirt and put 1 pound in your pocket.
