@sweda,
Hi Sweda, and everyone else who needs a really concise dictionary,
Am happy to give you this tip which might save you some trips to the library. If you have a friend who has a computer you should buy from Amazon.com in the US "The New Comprehensive A-Z Crossword Dictionary" by Edy Garcia Schaffer. It is a soft cover, measures 7" x 4" x 2+1/2" thick. It cost me $2.00 + $10.00 postage approximately and is an absolute boon! I've never had anything like it. For "decorative twisted cord" I just looked up "cord" and it gives 7 variations plus another 13 with headings like braided, cattle-catching and drapery which was torsade. With "velcrum book cover lining" I looked up "book" and it just goes forever! From nearly the top of one page to nearly the bottom of the next! 14 at first then just way too many to count for everything to do with books, e.g. "about saints", "blank sheet of" and "lining" which was "doublure". This dictionary is worth its weight in gold! They had heaps when I bought this one. It was used but you'd never know it. Good luck.
