At the Grammys Outkast, or Big Boi, sang Hey ya! and they all dressed up in green gear that resembled Native American dress. I watched it and thought that it was going to cause offence to someone in the Native American world. But I thought it was cool. Then I thought that black people would be mad if a bunch of white guys got on stage and dressed in slave gear and sang their song. So I reverted back to feeling uncomfortable. Not because I found it offensive but because I knew someone would. I thought it was cool throw back but not everyone will agree.
Well they didn't a Native American group filed a complaint to the FCC about it.
Any thoughts?
I didn't see the grammy's but there is a long history between the black and the native american communities. Especially in Lousianna, blacks often dress in traditional indian garb during the Mardi Gras. The association of tribes ect. for the parade and festive season.
Perhaps this is why? I'm just guessing here.
