That was my point. If you limit yourself to the tiny confines of your area, you'll never grasp the wonders of the world. Do I understand every word of every dialect, NO. But I also don't limit myself to thinking there is a definitive line when it come to language.
There isn't. Language can't be defined by boundaries or dictionaries.
So the idea that a guy from China should limit himself to American English is silly.
The woman from Germany... I presume she had a German accent. I presume she didn't speak American ( what ever that is). You understood her. When I was in India, some people didn't understand me. I'm Canadian. English is my mother tongue. I understood them. I grew up with accents from all over the world and it's beyond me to think that English belongs to two countries. I'm sorry you find that offensive, or some how beyond comprehension.
