Well, the number one website review place is owned by Amazon itself. So the best place for Amazon customer reviews is... Amazon.

But if you are looking for something else you might want to examine the numerous essays about Amazon's patent of the "one click" system.

It's a hightly contested subject because Amazon has patented a ridiculously basic idea on the net.

Jakob Nielsen is the leading "useability guru" on websites. He's considered one of the most influential persons on the net for his usability reviews.

Personally, I find him to be largely idiotic but his site is: http://www.useit.com/

Here is a google search for Amazon on his site.

Note: He is an Amazon associate, but then agains, so am I. So is everyone. ;-)

thanks again!
and one more thing, now that i know that you're amazon user, can you answer this inquiry please?

Do you know the Amazon site? (http://www.amazon.com)

Have you ever used Amazon to buy/sell products?

If yes, did you have any problems with the register process on the site?

What do you think of the presentation of the site? (Good, Medium, Bad)

What do you think of the waiting time for the page to load? (Good, Medium, Bad)

Do you think its easy to use?

What do you like more on the Amazon site?

What do you like less on the Amazon site?

Which type of products do you look more in Amazon?

If you could change something on the site, what would it be?

Other comments?

if anyone else wants to answer the inquiry, go ahead!

No

Horrible. I think the pages are cluttered. I think their service is excellent so I don't mind.

Horrible. Their pages get a low rank of usability from me.

For me yes, but their usability is horrible.

What I like the most is the solid business practices. Good prices, and good service (returns etc).

I also like their reviews.

The fact that it's useability is among the worst that exists. They need cleaner pages.

I buy things ranging from books to electronics.

I would remove all the extra junk and institute more intuitive navigation.

Great business, great service, great prices, great catalogue, bad site design.

yea i've noticed that amazon really sucks on usability and acessibility,

if you go to:

http://bobby.watchfire.com/bobby/html/en/index.jsp

and test the amazon site it will get lots of errors...

Yes.

Yes, both.

No.

While it can be intimidating at times, it's mostly okay. Sometimes there is difficulty selecting authors that have the same name, but it's not hard for me to get what I want.

I have broadband, so mostly I don't notice this.
skuamb wrote:

Yes. There are harder sites to use. As with most things, it's getting to know it.
skuamb wrote:

Consolidation of several different sites.

Books, Music.

It really peeves me how when you search you can put in something and get an apparently unrelated hit. So I'd like to see if not better searching, then a better presentation of the search results.

Very easy.

Product reviews from actual buyers are priceless

Their search engine is horrible. The outside sellers that Amazon is now using are difficult to search and hard to work with. This is one of Amazon's big mistakes.

Tools, books, CDs.

The search engine.

Reliable, and fast shipping times.

Never sold anything on Amazon, but I buy quite a bit.

Yeah. Once I inadvertently put my son's address on fast click. Then I wanted to buy something for myself, and I nearly sent it to my son. I caught the mistake before it was too late.

I have cable, so that is not an issue for me.

Yes

Quote:

The ability to read pages of a book before you buy it.
Quote:
What do you like less on the Amazon site?

If I buy a certain type of item, I keep getting prompts to buy more of the same (even though the stuff might not have been for me).

Books, CDs, DVDs, small appliances

I agree with Roger that the links to outside vendors is annoying.

I have a helluva time finding the power search for classical music. It is not obvious, and I always have to figure out how to get to it.
