my cousin lives in georgia and is facing 30 year in jail for stabbing a person. she has bipolar disorder. the person she stabbed survived so my question is can she plead innocent by reason of mental defect and get moved to a mental institution for a period of time to get the help she needs. or under georgia law is that impossible. thanks

I don't know; but I would not count on it... In America we like to punish our mentally ill; so we punish society with the same rod...
