@Dutchy,
spacer. (When pacing is involved there have to be spacers--know what I mean squire? Nudge, nudge, wink, wink, say no more!! Sirrah.)

What's the joke Dutch in "accept" to "pacing". A bracket theme of drunks and barmaids puts us back where we were when it was a junior school game to teach the little monsters the units from which words are constructed.

I had over 20 words out of "pacing" before I hit on "spacer". I put some time in on it. There's a neat ambiguity in "spacer" don't you think? In relation to "pacing". Or not being in too big a rush.

@spendius,
When I think about it I reckon it would be a good game for kids to play in school. If anything came up which made Rebecca blush it would be accidental and only happen rarely.

@spendius,
reckon (I reckon you had an early pint or two spendi, after watching that boring opening of your Olympic Games, what a lot of crap. Praising up your NHS as they did was a pure con job!)

@Dutchy,
Nah nah!! You've not got it Dutch. This game is for big boys and girls.

I could go from "spacer" to "reckon" mind you, with a jest, but me having a pint or two is neither here nor there. I could have just as easily have had a pint of two, or a cup of tea and five McVitie's chocolate biscuits, for any damn word at all and that's evading the new rules which I am quite surprised you cannot follow.

I'll give you an easier example. On the "last letters" game the word is "waste". There are a lot of words which begin with an "e" or an "te" or an "ste" or, fewer, with "aste" and even with "waste" it self.

But "excrement" sticks out like a fly on a dinner plate. Or "exude". "Extrude". Choosing "stenographer" would be ridiculous. "Steelyard" would be okay for a Luddite.

reckon.

@Dutchy,
storks. (they used to say that the birth rate could be reckoned from the visits of storks for the nesting season.) (Probably the sort of weather that brought the storks was ideal for fecundation and so, like a lot of superstitions which some people laugh at, there's a factual, scientific hypothesis.)

@spendius,
marine

one of the soldiers (or whatever) in a muster (is a marine called a soldier- of does that only apply to people in the army)
*also, I didn't make a jest or joke on mine because you didn't on your last one - it was just a straight correlation.

@aidan,
detail. (marines are detailed to carry out missions)

I think a connection allows for jests but the connection is the main thing in order to avoid the imputation of playing the game the way kids would play it. "Trivia" is not bad for "detail" Or "minute".

Any old word is too easy. It's a bit like expecting ladies to jump to it when the fingers are snapped. You can't possible approve of chaps who take the easiest way habitually.

@Dutchy,
organs. ( organs contain ramrods which control the melodious tone of the instrument being played) (how's that for a jest Rebecca?)
