My violin recently developed a crack in the top surface

. The crack starts under the tailpiece/chin rest, runs parallel to the strings, and stops just short of the bridge. Can anyone give me a ballpark estimate of what I should expect to pay to repair the violin? (Its retail value is ~$1800)
Thanks!
I'm not too sure, but a quick search for 'violin+repair+luthier' gave me a bunch of info including this guys website:
Luthier
Drop him a line. He'll probably be able to give you an idea.
Thanks, _-=-_.
I actually wasn't familiar with the word "luthier", and it helped me narrow my search strategy.
I took the violin to an expert in Amherst, MA. The sound board was cracked, as well as the top; estimated cost for the repair is ~$500. (!! oh, well--at least they can fix it)
