dlowan - My loose-lipped comment about the wombats and the Aussies was done at great risk to my personal safety, knowing that you and assorted sordid others on your fair island could easily sic a one-stepper or other toxic critter in my foothillish direction.

Letty - Yes, 'tis me, c'est moi - no doubt the oldest hatchling to post on A2K.

margo, custom tour guide to Sydney par excellence, your comment that Aussies are everywhere strikes me as eerily similar to the thought that microbes are everywhere - a parallel chillingly appealing to anybody whose inclinations lean toward conspiracy theories. -- You remembered that I once posted in the more authentic Hawaiian version of my handle, "a'a".

Roger - thank you for the welcome. Given that I'm responding to you plus three others, I'm just one short of enough for a quincunx schemata.

Hey, RoverRoad. (drum roll please)

Here's a welcoming song for 'ya:

way beyond the hills in Idaho
Where yawning canyons greet the sun
As it smiles above the trees in Idaho
To say another night is done
Warm summer winds toss the waving grain
Calling me back to my home again
To dream sweet memories of long ago
Beyond the hills in Idaho

Ha, Nice song Letty, but I'm originally from Portland Oregon. I'm just a transplant in Boise. Got a song for Oregon? Laughing

Ok, Rover. Roll over:

Oregon, My Oregon
Words by J.A. Buchanan
Music by Henry B. Murtagh

Land of the Empire Builders, Land of the Golden West;
Conquered and held by free men, Fairest and the best.
On-ward and upward ever, Forward and on, and on;
Hail to thee, Land of the Heroes, My Oregon.

Land of the rose and sunshine, Land of the summer's breeze;
Laden with health and vigor, Fresh from the western seas.
Blest by the blood of martyrs, Land of the setting sun;
Hail to thee, Land of Promise, My Oregon.

Sorry. That's the best that I can come up with on such short notice.

Hey, Aa. Don't you go messin' around with my Mark Twain quotes, now. Smile

And, it also gets you to the front of many a list.

Is it true that it's short Hawaiian for "Aaaa.....me first!"???

Smile

I once shared a table in the Carnegie Diner, NYC, with the big Hawaiian guy who's a professional wrestler on WWF. Well someone told me who he was, anyway. Boy, he could eat.

I don't know about McTag, Gautam, but I was talking about them prisoners who settled Georgia. With a name like Oglethorpe, I'll bet he had a face to match.

Letty - I have to say that in Oz, ogling Thorpe is a national hobby. Ian Thorpe, champion swimmer, model, jewellry designer, charity worker, etc., while not absolutely stunning in looks, does attract a huge amount of attention, wherever he goes, from both sexes.

Margo, you funny thing. I might do a wee bit of ogling myself should I see Russell Crowe. Don't know your Mr. Thorpe. but I do know Ian Anderson and Ian Fleming: Kiss kiss--bang bang--and bungling in the jungle.
