The Identity theory can be criticized on the grounds of its being ‘chauvinistic’. The Intentional Stance and Anomalous Monism, on the other hand, apparently avoid this problem. Explain (a) what the chauvinism objection is and how it applies to Identity theory. Also explain (b) how the Intentional Stance and Anomalous Monism are, in their respective manners, immune to this objection. Examine (c) whether or not this constitutes a genuine improvement on Identity Theory. Your answer should take into account any disadvantages these non-chauvinist theories may suffer as a result of their multiple realizability.
