Hi, help with the name of a "recent" song

Hi all.

Thanks for taking the time to read this. Okay, I've been trying to track down the artist of a song that I forget. Here's what I remember: The song is a rock/alternative song I believe, from a popular group (a male rock/alternative group); and considering that there was a publicly-released video of it, I think the song is pretty popular too (so hopefully you'll know it!). It's a fairly recently-made song, considering I saw the music video of it last year (early 2003).

The music video is about a true event (I believe), where an adolescent boy in the US (in, or related to Beverly Hills (you see 90210 actually flash in the video)) committed suicide in front of his classroom at school. This happened at the end of the video, where you don't actually see the shooting directly, but then the frame freezes and the camera fixes on the kids in the classroom, just as it occurs - the colour of the shot is distorted so you just see the children sitting at their desks, turning away with the (blood) splatter from the blast hitting them.

Um, if that's not enough - just as how the colour of the shot was "distorted" etc., the entire video is practically set in that kind of environment, perhaps to accentuate the kids perspective of the world. At the beginning, you see the band, I think...and it is quite flashy (as the 90210 flashes, for example). Also, in the video, I remember the boy going up to his parents, but they don't notice him, or just argue...and also, another scene is when the boy is in the classroom, trying to get attention, but no one pays attention to him, and he gets frustrated.

Anyway, it's a really thought-provoking video with a deep message and I was wondering if you could tell me the name of it..thanks a lot.
