Hi,
I've just purchased something on the internet and was quoted a price so I put in my card details and all was fine until I just recieved an e-mail saying:
'Due to the foreign exchange rate, the amount displayed on your statement might be a little bit different from the real price.'
I was just wondering if this was actually legal? I have checked and it appears they have take an extra £56.19 from me, I don't understand how they can quote me a price and then take more money from me?
On the website I ordered it from it never mentioned this 'exchange rate' issue and the payment made is to a seperate company. I do actually want the product I have ordered from the website I was just wondering if there was anyway I could get the money back they have taken without me agreeing? As well as this I was wondering if that was actually legal?
Thank you
S xx
@SFenwick-Brown88,
contact your card company right away and report the charge and tell them everything you said here.
if this IS a legitimate company, the issue will be solved. If it is not, you have just saved your account from being used to the max
It always amazes me that people ask these "is this legal" type questions on web forums without bothering to mention what country they live in, (and in your case what country the vendor is in). It's like they think there's one law for the whole world...
On the other hand you mention pounds, so if you are in Britain try asking your local council's Trading Standards department when they open on Monday.
