Sum and Difference Identities

Hi I'm new to this forum and I need some help. I am working on the sum and difference identities and I just don't understand this one part.

I'm given (7pi/12) and asked to evaluate. Well the answer says to use (pi/4) and (pi/3) but how does that equal (7pi/12)? I also had another one similar and I just don't understand how to come up with two numbers that I can use to then find the sum or difference of the equation. I can do everything else, just not that.

Any and all help would be FANTASTIC!
Thanks so much,
Courtney

@CubaCourtney,
Can you see this as a simple math addition of fractions?

Make the terms all common fractions...equivalent of term/12

What does it take to make a term that is an x/3 or x/4 a term that is x/12? Mutliply times 4 or 3.
