Is there such a thing as flaking a few chips of paint off a wall or a pipe and then using radiocarbon or some other dating technology to get an idea of when the item was painted to within a year within the last 60 years or thereabouts??
Any info would be appreciated.

Best guess is it would be better to determine the formula and track down the manufactor.

Thanks. I've got a sort of a weird situation which would be helped if I could tell when a particular room was painted..
