Is it ok for me to be wrong?

I may have a belief different than you! I may worship a God that you are not familiar with but even so would it be a bad thing for me to question whether my belief in God is correct?
What if I am wrong about what I believe?

@reasoning logic,
The question inolves circularity. "You" are "your relationships". The self integrity of "believers" is a function of their belief system. There is no "right" and "wrong" with respect to "belief", only degrees of personal and social integrity/cohesion.

An added consideration is the myth of "the unified self". We often shore uo integrity by compartmentalising contradictory beliefs which are simultaneously held by different facets of self. These disparate facets are a microcosm of the disparity found in "society".

@reasoning logic,
Well if your belief in a certain god that would require you, the believer, to beat your wife in order to stay in his/her grace then it is most certainly wrong to believe in such false nonsense.

I'm trying to say, belief in certain religions that dictate the believer must steal the rights of other individuals and groups who may or may not be a part of your faith is DEAD WRONG.

AKA, it isn't okay for you to be wrong in certain cases.

If you believe in a religion that does not negatively effect others? Good for you. You only have to accept the negative consequences of that belief yourself. Don't force these consequences on any other human or animal and you should be fine.

Also, whose the goober who tagged this thread football? Talk about random....

......so now extrapolate to circumcision and child indoctrination..... Wink

Belief, action, socialization, morality and self integrity are an inextricable quagmire. That is why religious believers require an "external authority" to sanctify their worldview.

@reasoning logic,
To answer the topic title- yes, it’s ok to be wrong. Everyone is wrong about something (on more than one occasion, aka a lot during their lifetime). To suggest you can’t be wrong about anything and everything you think you know is a fallacy.

As for you question-

That question, is one I wish more people would ask themselves (sadly not nearly enough in my opinion). It demonstrates you’re not willing, at least not entirely, to be blinded by ignorance in the face of facts. One should always question, it’s those that don’t, who scare me…
