World Pride in Toronto this year - first time it's been in North America!

Huge gay wedding on Thursday, Trans March was yesterday, Dyke March is today (got my wings ready), and the big march is tomorrow! this city is just rocking and rolling with all the festivities !

just over a hundred gay couples got married at Casa Loma on Thursday

It was absolutely fabulous! this city really pulled out the stops, making it a big party and welcoming everyone

one of my (bear) buddies who moved here from San Diego to be with his (cub) fiance was trying to explain it to his American friends ... every street a parade, every park a party - they couldn't believe how mainstream the whole event was

ok well not all of it was mainstream - but it was all fun!

Happy Pride to my friends in St. Pete! Let's start the day with some comedy. Ted Cruz wants to amend the Constitution so Supreme Court justices face retention elections every 8 years even though the Founders were pretty clear justices should not be voted on in elections. Sarah Palin wants the Supreme Court impeached (though I'm guessing she means only the 5 who disagree with her). And TX Governor Greg Abbott has appointed a conservative Christian homeschooler as the chairwoman of the TX Board of Education. Republicans: dangerously stupid.

Houston had a big celebration, also. Our mayor, Anise Parker, had intended on marrying her partner on this occasion, but they gave in and were wed in another state a while back. The ladies have raised two or three children together.

Last weekends Pride was our biggest yet, 250k attended to celebrate the Supreme Courts ruling!

Pride was even bigger and better then before. You got your wish, they moved the parade down to Beach Blvd and it was a success! The street festival was still on Central in the grand central district and hotter then hell as usual.

I really thought there was a more recent thread than this.

In Southampton the official corporate event isn't until August, and my trans son and his friends are sick of supporting rainbow capitalism, especially as one of the sponsors turned him down for a job because he is trabs.

Instead, a group of like minded individuals, including my son, have formed the People's Pride. This weekend there is a two day event in Palmerston's Park funded by the National Lottery and Trade Unions.

The largest one I went to was San Francisco. The parade lasted for hours and the festival had to be ten square blocks.

This is very small, ground roots, no corporate sponsorship.

They're going to be setting up Friday then all day Sat and Sun
