and why?

My nominations...

Adbusters

It's a brilliant nonprofit magazine dedicated to undermining mainstream media. Site: www.adbusters.org

The Week

It's a compilation of articles from all over published in the past week.

The Nation

A very intelligent liberal magazine.

The American Conservative

A very intelligent conservative/libertarian magazine that nevertheless seems to hate the Bush administration as much as I do.

It depends on what you want. We get Boston magazine because we live here. If you don't live in Boston, you won't care about that.

Smithsonian and National Geographic are fine; I don't recommend getting both, though, as they tend to run articles on similar subjects.

Food & Wine is great - very inspirational.

We also get Business 2.0 - good info on online businesses.

And Sports Illustrated - best sports writing around.

The New Yorker.

Gots everything.

Fiction, movie reviews, in-depth news analysis, humor...

Love it.

I agree on the New Yorker. I learn something in every issue I read, usually many somethings, or more correctly, the complex issues pertaining to a subject in one article and the complex issues on another subject in the next one. The level of writing is excellent - to me - and the NY is famous for its factchecking of content. That is not always perfect: there have been some missteps, I think, but they try very hard on that.

Hi

I got a similar question to Centroles':
What are the best Canadian general intereset/news magazines in your opinion?

I'm desperately looking for one I can subscribe to in Europe at decent costs.

Thanks in advance!

Vanity Fair. I can read it from cover to cover. Politics, entertainment, art, fashion, biographies, current events. They cover it all.
