I found a coin that has 2 crossed flags on one side and wheat stalks on the other side can't tell any writing or denomination. Can't tell if it's gold or copper. Can uyou please tell me what it is? It will not scan and can't get a good picture.

@yammer,
Sorry, I can't help you, but maybe others can. The best and quickest way is to take some sort of picture..whether it's scanned or a using a digital camera.

here's a website i found that could help:

http://sammler.com/coins/index.html

I saw something unoffical that indicated perhaps it could be Chinese, early 1900s provincial coin made of brass and copper?

@Ragman,
Lots of coins of different countries have crossed flags and wheat stalks. Even some from the US.

A more accurate description would be useful.

Is there anything written on the coin?

Diameter of the coin?

@Francis,
None (that I know of) have wheat stalks AND crossed flags from United States.

@Francis,
It's about the size of a fifty cent piece and the flag on the left looks like an American flag I can't see alot of details or any words or denomination. It looks copper or gold.

@yammer,
gold may get dirt on it but it doesnt tarnish . Copper tarnishes. A "touchstone" is a piece of unglazed procelain where you rub the coin edge. If its gold itll show yellowish, if its copper it comes off much darker . Copper scratches gold but gold wont scratch copper.

Id say rub it on a shallow nappe carpet along the edges and see if they brighten up, then itd most likely be a copper coin. The difference between copper and gold is really quite different and you should be able to tell at a glance
