Aside from the fact that the author leaps to the absurd conclusion that "They [Americans] think inequality is good and that individuals will always get what they deserve" (and other ridiculously broad generalizations), I think some interesting questions are raised here.

I guess let's start with the question, "Is income inequality good?" followed by: is it "the responsibility of the government to reduce differences in income"?

Any thoughts?
