I heard this version of "God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen" today and I'd love to know who sang it. I've tried to figure it out on my own but I'm not having much luck.
It was really upbeat, happy sounding. It started with a man singing, became a duet with a woman, then the woman sang, then they ended with kind of a round on the refrain.
I think it was just an acoustic guitar. Kind of country swingish, a bit jazzy. Played fast.
A very different version.
Does anyone know who the artists might have been?
Do you know of any other kind of cool and different versions of traditional carols? Care to share?
Hey Beth - I love her voice. I loved the one you posted on Yabber too.

I'm really trying to find a version of Jill Barber (the woman in this clip from the Vinyl Cafe) doing The Christmas Song. It's amazing. She really swings it.
There's a huge swing music movement in Canada theses days. So much to pick from!
We went to the Alabama Theater last night and saw "Elf" with Will Ferrell on the big screen. Great time. I am always struck by Zooey Deschanel's voice as well. I love that "40's" quality to it.

this is a Canadian classic
makes me a bit weepy as it has so many memories of my hometown and early university days - skating with friends over the Christmas vacation
