regionalism, front yards

I'm thinking there is a regionalism about front yards, like in the deep south for example you may see old refrigerators, a sofa, 2 t.v.s while here in New Mexico you are more likely to see any number of cars and trucks filling the front yard like this;

We have a lawn and a sad oak tree seedling. This year I'm building two decks, one in the front and one in the back yard. And then I'll plant some flowers and maybe a bush or two.

Something tells me that this pile no longer exists as something about the picture cries out that this was a vintage photograph of some bygone junkyard that no longer exists or at least has a completely different junk pile.
