True Crime Book 1970-85?

I can not for the life of me remember the name of this book, but it was a horrible story. I only remember that the robbers took employees to basement of a store and tortured them all night. There was a father and son that were last to be tortured. I believe they used ball point pens to puncture their necks and the son had a ball point pen kicked into his ear and much more and I believe his father died. The son lived but was marred terribly and I believe he helped police catch the men. Does anyone remember this story.
