Hi.

I am looking for some guides to literature that will give the best works as judged by consensus, has some discussion of the major authors, the periods etc. I am looking for guides of the following:

Classical literature of Greek and Latin
Literature of Continental Europe
Modern Literature, from about 1900 onwards.

Thank you for any suggestions

You could go on line and look at the curricula colleges post. There are always surveys on the greatest books or favorite authors. This one from the Guardian is very popular: http://www.guardian.co.uk/books/series/1000novels
