This woman was my immediate neighbor, in , yes, 1968. Immediate in that I rented a tack on place behind a duplex, and I was a closed/locked door away. I left because of the cockroaches. That was my first apartment.

My few interchanges with her were fine. I could say she was nice.

I remember fights beyond the door, a very new thing to me.
There was some bozo guy. I couldn't guess who was at fault or the aggressor.
It didn't occur to me, then, to call the police.
