meeting online can it work?

I have met a bloke online on a game (not a dating website or chat room) we were friends for over a year and in the last 2 months have swapped numbers and facebooks. I was extremely attracted to his personality from the day we met our sense of humor is very similar and we just clicked. When i saw his pic on facebook i knew i liked him, he is so my type it seemed strange as i was not expecting to find him physically attractive we have been speaking on the phone every day for hours on end and txt none stop not to mention our gaming time together. I feel like i know this man however there is a distance between where we live. We have agreed to meet, i get that the image i have of who he is may not turn out as well as i hope but i am exited about meeting him. I came out of a relationship 6 months ago and i have a young child i was not looking for a relationship but have really started to like this guy. I am under no illusion of love and am not expecting a fairytale ending but is it OK to feel such a pull to some1 i have never met?

@aphrodites,
It can work very well, or not at all. Go find out. Try to curb your expectations, whether good or bad.

@aphrodites,
Where are you meeting? His turf, your turf, or a neutral turf? I'd suggest neutral or yours vs his. Also, make sure it's a public place and all that anti-psycho stuff.

Can it work? Sure. Will it? No idea, but you can have a lot of fun finding out.

@aphrodites,
Of course you shouldn't believe anything he has said. Take someone with you. Take a bodyguard with you.

@Pemerson,
Oh no. Be a bit subtle and arrange for a friend to make a little security call on the cell.

@aphrodites,
Can it work? yes
Could it be a mess? yes

Be sensible about when/where you'll meet in person.

@aphrodites,
Always tell someone where you are going - NO SECRET meeting!

yep, there's a lot of good meets out there... there's some really not so good ones too when you're on own

if he's a goodun, have fun... just don't trust anyone, ya know, not properly, you could get a nasty shock even if he seems real nice to start out with.

I've met lots of folk online and hope to meet more- without any romantic involvement - so far so good. But that can change very quickly if you're out of your depth and see something that doesn't gel.

Neutral ground, public place.

Hope it works out for you Very Happy

@aphrodites,
I to have a friend I met on line ad i really like him. But I think he pretends to be two separate people and e-mails me from both. He seems shy but he is long distance to. I met him on a forum over a year ago and we send jokes etc. I like his sense of humor to. I thought we planned to meet but we both are hesitant and well may be next year. I call him from time to time he use to call me but he does not. I am still not completly free and i don't blame him for that. MarieGrace

@aphrodites,
I agree with JPB. If you are going to meet, meet in public. I am hoping this turns out well for you. Just please be cautious about it.
