Band based out of seattle that got friends together in studio

About a year ago I saw a video in which a band that was based out of seattle got a mess of their friends together in the studio to record. The lead singer had an unusual voice and had short brown hair. He spoke about how he wanted to get as many musician as he could together to create a wall of sound. If you have any suggestions on whom they could be that would be great. I know this is a real shot in the dark.
