What a good read…
by Lex / March 25th, 2010

At the Dinnington Library in London, an anonymous package was received about a month ago containing a late return … from 1965.

The book “Quatermass and the Pit” by Nigel Kneale is a first edition paperback that had no records of being missing due to the relocation of the library in 2000. So, unfortunately, that means the identity of the borrower is not recorded either. However, the borrower shouldn’t be ashamed of how late the book is since the cap is at 6 pounds (or $9).

The librarians are hoping that someone will come forward and express either their review or story behind the 45 year lapse. My guess is either it was a good read, or a challenging read.

@BumbleBeeBoogie,
It's quite possible that the original borrower or perhaps thief of the book (if it was stolen rather then borrowed) had passed away and the person who was the executor of that person's estate had chosen to return the book to the library.
