I run 5Ks (which in itself continues to seem to be an odd thing to say, but it's true) and I have a set playlist. Because, for me, the whole thing takes around 37 - 47 minutes (my worst was just over an hour and four minutes, but otherwise I'm within the 37 to 47 mark), my list is probably longer than others'.
I don't run fast -- what I call running, others call jogging. Plus, if it's not too hot, I alternate -- run for one song, walk for the next, run for the next one, etc. Plus I start to run, regardless of song, when I can see the finish line -- usually the last 20 - 30 seconds or so of any given race.
So, without further ado, this is my playlist:
When we run the Artesani Park 5Ks, this is usually playing as I walk over the first bridge
In the heat, this is a good long rest
This is usually playing as I jog up and over the second bridge
This is playing on the long straightaway near the end, past where you can rent a boat
This one tends to be the finisher song
Extra song when I'm slow:
The beats are just good (I just don't run that fast), plus some of them have some meaning to me.
So, given about the same amount of time, which ten songs do/would you pick to run to? It doesn't matter if you don't run. Just, what would get you motivated? Where would you rest? Would you prefer fast or slow? Lyrics or music? Does bpm (beats per minute) matter to you?
