so, i'm filling in an online form as part of a contest hosted by a major Canadian corporation

at one point it asks for your name and location, i fill in my full name and the name of the nearby town (where this corporation has a store)

i'm greeted with a popup that says, please do not put curse words or sex words into the form

Shocked

my last name and the town name both contain within them a word that would fit the description

okay i figure, i'll drop my last name, after all the store in question has a location in this town, surely that can't be the objection

try again, same thing

so i switch to another nearby town, everything's fine

anyone else ever encountered anything like this

Yes. This is a frequent problem when people put in porn/profanity filters for E-mail.

"Sussex" is the classic example.

you would have thought that the programmer might have thought to allow the name of a town (Essex) where the company has a store and about 10,000+ people could potentially reference if filling in the form

might call their customer service line
