He really defined a time. In the film "Catch Me if You Can", Amy Smart's character and her family (this is, I think, about 1964) tune in and sing right along with Mitch. Dunno if anyone does in the film "Pleasantville" but it would fit there, too.

Back in the day, he was a very popular performer, as well as apparently being a very nice person. He will be missed.

Growing up, my family had the Sing Along with Mitch Christmas Album, and we played it (and sang along) every single year. It was an important tradition for my family, and those were the definitive versions of the traditional Christmas carols for us. After my parents died, I inherited the album. I tried playing it at Christmas for Hubby and SonofEva, but they just didn't get it. Crying or Very sad

RIP, Mr. Miller.

Mitch Miller on Rock & Roll

The day the Byrds signed to Columbia Records was the day Miller vacated his office.

Lots of parents think that. I did for a time, too, when hip hop and rap came along, but now, I don't. Music evolves, like it or not.

@edgarblythe,
I asked my neighbor. He said that it was Fred Waring who invented a blender not Mitch Miller. Mitch Miller was the one who looked like Lenin eh?
