How much real estate commission to pay in Ontario?

It's been many years sine I've bought and sold a home, but i have the impression there's more room to negotiate with one's real estate agent now that commission rates aren't fixed. If I'm trying to sell an $800,000 home in Toronto, how low is it reasonable to go on the commission - where the agent is not handling both ends of the deal?
