@panzade,
I've loved Taj Mahal forever. As to "star", one tradition of New Orleans jazz I'm terribly fond of is the opportunity that is presented for everybody to be the focus and to star in the performance, each taking turns. And god damn those boys are all soooo good. The entire concert is worth watching not least to hear Clapton talk about his trepidation in being on the same stage as jazz musicians of that caliber - "And here I am doing my little jingly-jangly thing".
Two quick anecdotes. In high school I met a lady who was touring as Ledbetter's opening act. While I was at her home, Joan Baez called. Unrelated second anecdote. Yesterday, a family friend who lives up here on Vancouver Island had just returned from an outing with her daughters and her mother, who's 94. The mother said she wanted to try some of that "weed" the rest of them were talking about. They rolled a joint and grandma took a toke and said, "Oh, it's just reefer". She'd smoked a ton of it in Montreal in the 40s but somehow hadn't tied the two things together.
