I am revisiting the Rolling Stones in general, mostly the 4 album set beginning with Beggars Banquet, their 4 best albums IMHO. This could take awhile.

Great version. Greg seems to have heard this version by Stevie Winwood. Stevie was 16 years old for gosh sakes!



Greg also got this tune for the Allman's first Capricorn album.

Hope you can see the original by Bessie Smith. Although it was written during the Prohibition era it became more poignant after Wall Street crashed.

Great song. We have a lot of Bessie Smith's cds - my husband collects old blues artists. His favourites by Bessie Smith are Backwater Blues, St Louis Blues, Careless Love Blues and Alexander's Ragtime Band.
